Mercury vapor light conversionJul 07, 2010 Handy as a shirt pocket easy way to convert old mercury type light to a standard medium light base to accept new compact florescent.
just what was neededApr 25, 2010 I inherited a 1920's Caldwell lamp with a mogul base socket, but wanted to use a compact fluorescent in it. While mogul based CFs are available (on the internet), they are quite pricey, $15 and up. It seemed at much better idea to get an adapter, but looking at the local hardware stores turned up nothing. This Leviton adapter is modestly priced, solidly made, and did the trick. The only downside is that unscrewing the bulb, also unscrews the adapter, but this is quite minor.

UselessDec 04, 2009 It does not work. Tried it in 3 different working lamps with 2 new light bulbs to no avail. A waste of money and effort!
