1Not good for dogsMay 31, 2010
My dog got shocked once during training, on the lightest setting, and was terrified of us for weeks as a result. For almost a year after that experience she would avoid anything red - the color of the flags we used to do the training. She's a rescue dog, so there was likely some excess baggage from previous owners, but this experience set our training and progress back months. Do yourself and your dog a favor and never, ever buy these things, especially if your dog is even remotely sensitive or nuerotic. I quickly returned it and that process was a nightmare in itself...not Amazon's fault. I'd give this zero stars if it were an option.

5Wow!May 22, 2010
We purchased the PetSafe Wireless Fence about 6 months ago and needed to add an additional receiver collar for our newest adoption. We have a German Shorthair Pointer and a Border Collie. The system works well for home and when we visit family in another state. Fencing was not an option on our budget after finishing our new home. The system with one receiver collar was about $250 and the additional receiver collar about $100. So, for under $400 our two dogs are safe from the road in front of our home and not a nuisance to our neighbors. Training was fairly easy and took a little time each day for about 1 week. Our Collie is a lot newer to the system and came from an open range farm but is adjusting. Our Pointer knows the "beep-beep" means "zap-zap" if you don't get back and is quick to respond. The first few weeks he was reluctant to leave the step! Even without the collar he will not cross the boundary. We leave the collars on in the house but on occasion they will randomly beep ad send the dogs away from where they were. The radius allows us to have less roaming in our front yard as well as a garden area that is out of the safe zone. Overall, I recommend this as a great fix when a fence is just too expensive as well as if you travel. We have a car power adapter but I wish it had the option for a few D batteries!

3Works, but could be betterMay 13, 2010
The range and sensitivity of the collar changes when using two collars in the same area. The range from collar to collar varies where one of the dogs can go further than the other dog before getting zapped by the collar. The collar works as intended but could be better in regards to range sensitivity when using more than one collar in the same space.

1Intermittent shocking and collar breaks plus batteries are rip offApr 12, 2010
Pros:None
Cons:Weak, Breaks, Doesnt work, Poor Grip, Dirties Easily, Detaches Easily, Uncomfortable, Poor Fit
Best Uses:None
Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner

The thing broke in 2 months. Just broke and doesnt work period. It scared the hell out of my dog when it did and I thought ok I guess I wasn't doing something right. After a few dog chases in the park across the street and hours of reading instructions (thinking I wasn't doing something right because dog was getting out of yard unscathed) I came to conclusion -it doesnt work always work!!! the dog still runs away. I followed the instructions to the T, but it still only works sometimes because product is garbage. For $200 bucks you would think it would be more reliable but its not. I am surprised from all the good reviews. I wrote a review on [...] website and they did not post it go figure.

It costs too much to maintain the batteries another disappointing feature -every 6-8 weeks and the collars breaks on big dogs that are smart and no how to grind it off their neck. Waste of money! Buyer beware!

5great productMar 15, 2010
This is a great product. Within 3 days my dogs were completely trained. Neither of my 2 dogs hit the fence more than twice. It is a good idea if you buy this product to buy extra batteries because the batteries in one collar quit after 2 1/2 weeks. I really like that the range from the control box can be adjusted. I went camping and fixed the range to match the campsite and the system worked wonderfully.
