worksJul 03, 2010 if you want to work on electronics, this is a good, cheap soldering iron for you. it comes with very little solder, so you need to buy some more (if you didn't know that already) The stand kinda sucks and the packaging was frustrating to open ,even with a knife, but everything else works well (the included alternative tips are a plus)
overall it is a good buy for a small price
P.S. This gets HOT!!! (of course it does, it's a soldering iron, I am saying this because I burned myself like a dumbass when I used it)

bad tipsJun 14, 2010 I was very excited to try this soldering iron for jewelry work. But, within 1-2 hours, the tip would no longer solder. I followed the instructions on how to tin the tip, and cleaned with wet sponge after each use.. But the tip turned black anyway and would not melt the solder anymore. I tried sanding the tip to remove the black, and that did not really work either. And, there is no way to find replacement tips. I went to Lowe's and Home Depot-- and nothing. But i liked it for the first hour or so it was working. :)

Works well so farJun 03, 2010 I'm very new to soldering and this probably wasn't the best tool for the job I was doing, but it did the job anyway. It heated up quickly. I just need something to store it in.

Good for newbiesMay 22, 2010 Great light duty iron that performs well on DIY projects, small repair etc. The "kit" idea I'm not sold on - just buy the iron alone where possible since you'll be needing a sturdy stand and perhaps some "helping hands" anyway for safety. If you do go with this kit then toss out the tired little piece of solder it comes with and get yourself some 60/40 with flux.

terrible productMay 07, 2010 In my OPINION I personally hated this item. I had to use it for about 20 minutes and at that 20minutes the tips started to ruin by chipping and bieng coroded by the little solder i used. I even had a sponge yes to wipe off the solder. But still i ran through all 3 tips in about 3 hours of use at different times. So please dont wast your money on this cheap soldering iron. But if you insist on saving a few bucks be my guest, but don't be surprised when your ready to throw it into the trash.
